Selfship

While Dabi does mostly interact with me in my life as it is today, I also created a version of myself as I would be were I ever to go to his world with him. While I have written about us in a lot more detail in the "Writing" section of this site, I wanted to provide a brief overview of Rika (my BNHA-world self) and her relationship with Dabi here.

Name: Rika Akiyama

Age: 24

Height: 4'11" / 150 cm

Quirk: Photosynthesis

This Quirk is a power-storing type Quirk. Rika stores energy from sunlight she absorbs through her skin in the bamboo-like horns on her head. She is able to release this energy in large bursts to irradiate others or, with more focus and damage to herself, in small amounts to heal minor injuries. While she is able to use stored-up sunlight at night, her Quirk cannot take in sunlight at night or in dark, windowless places.

Hometown: Shizuoka, Japan

Rika's mother is the low-ranking pro hero Solar Flare, originally from Hakodate. She doesn't know much about her father other than that he left when she was young.

Rika initially met Touya when they were kids and attended the same private elementary school. They quickly became best friends. She saw some of the horrors of his home life but even so didn't fully know the extent of it.

They lost one another for some time. She had watched him as they grew up becoming more and more consumed by his need to prove himself. And of course she had thought he died when they were in middle school (although she never lost hope that he was somehow somewhere out there.)

They found each other again later in life, at age nineteen. Because Rika is an extension of myself, she feels the same as I do. That it is her duty and greatest joy to stand by the side of the person she loves most and support his dark dreams at any cost. And so, she does.
